Lighthouse in Aforesmenos

The lighthouse at Cape Agios Ioannis, or Aforesmenos, is located near the village of Vrouchas and the wind farm at Baboura. The area is named Aforesmenos after a legend about the constant turbulent sea.

The lighthouse was built in 1864 by the French Company of Lighthouses where a tower previously existed, while it was included in the Hellenic Lighthouse Network in 1912.

Next to the lighthouse is a rock-cut cave used by the German military forces in World War II as a lookout.
